How to install Zimbra 8.6 on CentOS 7 step by step

This is an install guide for Zimbra 8.6 on CentOS 7.1. This guide should help you get Zimbra email server – Open Source Edition up and running on CentOS.

Initial Setup:

Use hosts file to setup FQDN for Zimbra server

vim /etc/hosts
192.168.100.1 mail.example.com example.com
   

vim /etc/hosts
192.168.100.1 mail.example.com example.com


Disable SELINUX, Firewalld. Since Zimbra will install Postfix, MySQL and webserver, we need to remove these packages if already installed.

Install require dependencies:
# yum install nptl nmap-ncat sudo libidn gmp libaio gmp libaio libstdc++ unzip perl-core perl sysstat sqlite

Installation of Zimbra Collaboration – Open Source Edition

Use wget to download the Zimbra Collaboration Suite 8.6 from Zimbra site. Extract the package – zcs-8.6.0_GA_1153.RHEL7_64.20141215151110.tgz
# wget https://files.zimbra.com/downloads/8.6.0_GA/zcs-8.6.0_GA_1153.RHEL7_64.20141215151110.tgz
# tar -zxvf zcs-8.6.0_GA_1153.RHEL7_64.20141215151110.tgz
# cd zcs-8.6.0_GA_1153.RHEL7_64.20141215151110

Run the installer. We are using ‘–platform-override‘ option in command because installation script is only for Redhat  Linux but we are installing on CentOS 7 machine so to override the Platform condition.
# ./install.sh --platform-override

# ./install.sh --platform-override

Restart the rsyslogd service to changes take effect and enable to start with system
